On Sunday, March 9, the Loma Linda University Children's Hospital will celebrate 15 years of providing Inland Empire children with world-renowned hospital care with their 15th Annual "A Salute to Red, White & You" Gala. This signature event, presented by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, is taking place at the San Bernardino National Orange Show Events Center located at 689 S. E Street in San Bernardino at 5:30 p.m. The evening will include a live and silent auction, dinner, and entertainment by Daniel Rodriguez and the 29 Palms Combat Center Band. Mary Parks, NBC4's Inland Empire Bureau Chief and Reporter, will preside as mistress of ceremonies, while Danile Rodriguez and the 29 Palms Combat Center Band will present the entertainment for the event. The evening begins with a social hour at 5:30 p.m, followed by Mayor Patrick Morris to welcome the guests at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds from the gala will benefit the Intensive Care Services at the Children's Hospital.
Intensive Care Services
Each year, Intensive Care Services at LLUCH admit more than 3,000 infants and children for round-the-clock medical care. Of these, nearly half of them are transported in via ambulance, helicoptor, or airplanes from other medical facilities throughout the southwestern United States. Out of the 256 Children's Hospital beds, more than half are dedicated to Intensive Care Services. Intensive Care Services encompasses four specialized areas:
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit: treating our tiniest patients, this unit cares for babies facing complications due to extreme prematurity and other conditions.
- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit: this unit provides advanced care to children from 0 to 18 years of age, treating a variety of medical conditions, traumatic injuries, or those recovering from surgery.
- Pediatric Cardiac and Solid Organ Intensive Care Unit: this unit cares for children recovering from heart surgery, or heart, liver, or kidney transplants.
- Step-Down Pediatric Intensive Care Unit: a transition unit for children who are recovering from surgeries and other health conditions.
Together the pediatric intensive care beds make our pediatric intensive care unit one of the largest in the country.
