Child life program
General Child Life Program
Assist in providing diversional activities and sensory stimulation for pediatric patients under the direction of a child life specialist. Activities in the playrooms include reading, playing games, crafts, and interacting with children.
Assist nursing staff in giving care to infants and toddlers in need of love and attention, as well as holding and cuddling.
NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
Hold and comfort neonatal patients requiring special attention.
PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit)
Provide special attention to critically ill pediatric patients ages 4 months to 18 years.
Pre-admission Testing Service (PATS)/Observation
Assist in activities with pre-surgery and post-surgery patients. Answer phones, run errands, provide diversional activities for children waiting to be discharged following outpatient surgery.
Bring A Smile
Provide toys, games, and crafts to pediatric patients.
Cards 4 Kidz
Distribute to every hospitalized child handmade greeting, cheer, or get well cards prepared by schools, scout groups, service organizations, and others.
Assist in sorting, banding, and preparing supplies for the hospital.
Assist patients and guests in finding locations within the facility. Assist wheelchair patients to their appointments. Deliver items as needed.
Provide service to customers, assist with selection of gifts, interact with pediatric patients and visitors, and assist manager in all activities of displaying and selling merchandise.
Welcome patients and visitors at the main lobby information reception center.
Loma Linda Safe Kids Coalition
Join a group of individuals whose primary goal is keeping children safe. Under the direction of the pediatric trauma nurse coordinator, you can be involved in legislative changes, safety fairs, school based programs, and a wide range of children's activities. The group meets monthly to plan activities and programs.
Assist with projects such as clown visiting, fundraising, handmade gifts and toys, patient entertainment (parties, music, puppet shows, nature stories, etc.), holiday tray favors, Christmas caroling to patients, and Internet projects.
Totalcare Birth Center
Assist nursing staff with quality patient care including task-oriented activities such as stamping charts, making name tags, preparing cribs, delivering food trays, and answering call lights.
Provide adequate sorting/monitoring/record keeping of the toy donations and distributions.
Help in the operation of the busy volunteer services office. Assist with phones, computers, and greeting visitors.
