Women at Risk
Women Who are at Risk
Women who may be at risk during pregnancy and would be seen at the MFM Center include those who:
• Are at risk for, or have a, fetus with chromosomal abnormalities
• Have a family history of birth defects
• Have had previous complicated pregnancy or at risk for a complicated pregnancy
• Have preeclampsia
• Have had Preterm labor
• With cervical insufficiency
• With placental abruption or previa
• Have had a child or are carrying a fetus with birth defects
• Have a serious medical condition (renal failure, insulin-dependent diabetes, heart disease)
• Are carriers of X-linked diseases such as hemophilia
• Are carriers of, or has a partner who is a carrier of, a known genetic disorder
• Are exposed to dangerous substances during pregnancy
