COMPREHENSIVE CARE AT THE CENTER FOR MATERNAL, FETAL, & NEONATAL MEDICINE
Loma Linda Children's Hospital's mission and vision focus on providing excellent and compassionate health care. The Perinatal Institute was created to provide this type of comprehensive care for mothers and newborns with normal or complex needs during pregnancy, childbirth, and beyond. Our world class Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, one of the largest in California, assures that babies with special needs receive top notch care after birth. As the first Baby Friendly children's hospital in the nation we provide strong support for breastfeeding. Community outreach is also our priority. We strive to be a resource not only for our patients, but for maternal and newborn health care providers throughout our region.
Women and families come to our center from four counties (San Bernardino, Riverside, Inyo, and Mono) covering 41,000 square miles with a population of 4.2 million. The Inland Empire region has a higher rate of maternal diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, a higher rate of serious birth defects, and a higher rate of maternal deaths than the rest of California. We aim to provide exceptional care that addresses these problems, and to conduct research that will help women have safer pregnancies and births in the future.
