Champions for Children

Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital Champions for Children Program consists of corporations and support organizations that have committed to host an annual fundraising event benefiting Children’s Hospital with a gift of $5,000 or more. Since 1997 Champions have raised over $8,000,000 and have continued to help in our fight to bring world-class health care to the children of their community.

The program offers its Champions for Children a variety of recognition opportunities within the hospital as well as throughout the community. See below for opportunities.

$20,000+

  • Wall plaque on "Champion Wall of Fame" in Children's Hospital
  • VIP "insider" tour of Children's Hospital
  • Recognition luncheon at Children's Hospital – opportunity to invite supporters/donors
  • Name and logo in "Leaps & Bounds Magazine" (post event) – distribution approximately 25,000
  • Champion event highlighted in "Today" Newspaper (pre & post event) – distribution approximately 4,000
  • Champion highlighted in Annual Report on Champions for Children's page – distribution approximately 5,000
  • Name and logo in Children's Hospital's Champion eNewsletter and Children's Hospital Foundation eNewslettter
  • Listing on Children's Hospital's social media outlets
  • Listing of event on the Children's Hospital Web site events page that will include event description, event date, and contact phone number (months prior to event)
  • Annual recognition event with all Champions


$5,000-$19,999

  • Name and logo in "Leaps & Bounds Magazine" (post event) – distribution approximately 25,000

Event Guidelines
  • Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital may only be identified as the beneficiary of the event. For example, suggested wording for promotion of your event: “Golf Tournament to benefit Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital”
  • Event organizers are authorized to provide a link through event Web site to Children’s Hospital Web site lomalindakids.org
  • Event sponsors/supporters may be able to donate funds directly to Children’s Hospital Foundation. Children’s Hospital Foundation will provide a written tax receipt to all donors. Children’s Hospital Foundation will ensure accurate tracking of all donations received and will provide report to Champion.
  • Children’s Hospital Foundation cannot provide funding or reimbursement for any expenses incurred.

Role of Major Gift Officer, Foundation Champions

  • Act as liaisons between Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital and Champion, from event conception to recognition
  • Gift designation – research funding opportunities within Children’s Hospital
  • Tour opportunities- assist with facilitating tours of Children’s Hospital for Champion, prospective supporters of Champion event, and other appropriate audiences
  • Letter of authorization- provide letter from Director of Children’s Hospital Foundation to be used to validate the authenticity of the event and its organizers
  • Event support- provide support for event to be determined as needed.
  • PR/Marketing- work with internal media relations as well as community media services, in sending out press releases.
  • Gift stewardship- managing gift, compiling reports of gift use, and recognizing donors.
