Professional liability insurance (malpractice)
Residents are covered under the Medical Center's self-insured professional liability insurance policy for work done at the Medical Center. The affiliated hospitals provide similar coverage for residents. Moonlighting or other activities are not covered by this liability insurance policy.
The Loma Linda University Medical Center Residents Health Plan is an employer-sponsored health care plan providing coverage for medical, dental, and optical expenses. Resident coverage is provided at no cost to the resident. Dependent coverage for eligible dependents is available at a nominal monthly cost.
There is night and weekend on-call, which averages one time every 12 days. Some of the clinical services are quite busy, but the work can almost always be brought up-to-date within regular working hours.
