Adolescent program
The rehabilitation program at Loma Linda University East Campus Hospital has a team of dedicated professionals who understand the needs of adolescent patients. East Campus therapists who work with adolescents are paneled by California Children’s Services (CCS) to ensure a quality of care for patients under age 18.All treatment is specific and individualized to the adolescent patient’s needs.
The environment of the East Campus is designed to accommodate the needs of adolescent patient with community integration to provide an active, energetic environment. Adolescent patients who are away from school can receive tutor support while in rehabilitation. The hospital also provides a recreational therapy program with a game room.
As the staff work with adolescents and their families to accomplish their rehabilitation goals, the adolescent’s specific interests are met in regards to recreational interests and sports. Therapists can help adolescent patients become involved in adaptive sports to support their physical, social, and mental health.
Adolescent program content
Patients in the adolescent program participate in three hours of therapy per day, five days per week.Family and caregivers are encouraged to become involved in therapy treatments to become familiar with the patients needs once they go home.
The rehabilitation team address issues such as: activities of daily living, mobility, bowel and bladder training, sexuality, skin integrity, diet and exercise.
