Physicians at the Center

William C. Patton, MD

William C. PattonDr. Patton received his MD degree from Loma Linda University in 1969. He served a one-year internship in internal medicine from 1969 to 1970 and completed his residency in gynecology and obstetrics in 1973, both at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Dr. Patton undertook subspecialty fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, from 1973-75, and is board certified in both obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology.

Following his training in Boston, Dr. Patton returned to Loma Linda where he served on the faculty from 1975-79 when he was appointed chief of the section of reproductive endocrinology. He served in this capacity until May 1982 when he entered into private practice in the Loma Linda area.

In April, 1994, Dr. Patton rejoined the full-time academic faculty at Loma Linda University Medical Center, once again becoming chief of the section of reproductive endocrinology and infertility.

Dr. Patton is well known throughout Southern California and is a past president of the Riverside-San Bernardino Obstetrical and Gynecological Society, as well as being a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Fertility Society, the Pacific Coast Fertility Society, the Endocrine Society, and the San Bernardino County Medical Society.

John D. Jacobson, MD

John D. Jacobson, MD, fertility center physicianDr. Jacobson received his MD degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 1970. He served a rotation internship in family practice at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Washington, from 1970 to 1971, which was followed by 11 years of private practice in family medicine in Okinawa, Japan, and Summersville, West Virginia. Dr. Jacobson returned to Loma Linda University Medical Center in 1982 and completed his residency training in gynecology and obstetrics in 1985. Dr. Jacobson is board certified in family practice and obstetrics and gynecology.

Since completing his residency, Dr. Jacobson has been a member of the full-time academic faculty at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. He currently serves as Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Dr. Jacobson has a broad range of interests, including reproductive endocrinology and infertility.

Dr. Jacobson is a member of the American Fertility Society, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, the Riverside-San Bernardino Obstetrical and Gynecological Society, and the San Bernardino County Medical Society.

Kenneth H. Wong, MD

Kenneth H. Wong, MD, fertility center physicianDr. Kenneth Wong received his MD degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He served his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Georgetown University from 1991 to 1995. Dr. Wong completed his subspecialty fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the University of Maryland and at the University of Utah from 1995 to 1998. At the University of Utah, he carried out research in uterine and ovarian physiology focusing on the polycystic ovary syndrome. He is board certified in both OB/GYN and reproductive endocrinology.

After his training at the University of Utah, Dr. Wong came to Loma Linda University School of Medicine where he is practicing at the Loma Linda University Center for Fertility and In Vitro Fertilization. In addition, he also has a clinical practice at Kaiser Permanante in Fontana.

Dr. Wong is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine. He is also a member of ESHRE, the Endocrine Society and the Society of Reproductive Endocrinologists.

Shirley A. Fong, MD

Shirley A. Fong, MD, fertility center physicianDr. Shirley Fong received her MD degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine in Missouri in 1998. She completed her internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Tennessee in Memphis from 1998 until 2002. At Memphis, she received the Distinguished Teaching Award. Dr. Fong undertook subspecialty fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the department of obstetrics, gynecology and women's health at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey from 2002 to 2005. Her fellowship research project was focused on exciting cutting-edge knowledge of the effects of relaxin on matrix metalloproteinase MMP-2 on the cardiac tissues of primates.

Following her training, she worked at the Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, New York and St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan, NY before joining the Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 2007. Currently, she is practicing at the Loma Linda University Center for Fertility and IVF and at the Kaiser Permanente in Fontana. Dr. Fong is a fellow of the American College of Obstetric and Gynecology and a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
