Everyday compassionate people like you volunteer their time and talents in various areas of our hospital. Loma Linda University enthusiastically welcomes individuals of all backgrounds and abilities to volunteer their services. Enrich your life and the lives of others by sharing your time, talents and energy.

 

OUR PURPOSE

To engage the community into service positions that support the Christ-centered patient care experience, provide unparalleled customer service, and foster personal growth.


VOLUNTEERING

Online Applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age in order to complete our online application**
  • Have a valid U.S. social security number (if over 18 years of age)
  • Be able to commit to at least 100 hours of service per year
  • Be able to commit to at least 2 hours of service per week
  • Be in good physical and mental health
  • Be able to communicate effectively in English (second language skills are a plus)

**The Teen Summer program is now closed. If you are between the ages of 14 and 17, please check our website for more information about the Teen Summer volunteer program in February 2013.

VOLUNTEER COMMITTMENT

Comprehensive testing, training, and orientation are provide for each voluntee at our hospital. As a result, we ask that each volunteer commit to completing 100 hours of service, preferably within one year.
We have many volunteer opportunities with a need for weekday, evening and weekend shifts. Not all programs will have evening or weekend shifts. In addition, some of our more popular programs may have a waiting list.

Volunteer opportunities fall into two main categories:

LIMITED PATIENT CONTACT*
Opportunities with patients include:

Patient Care Units
Outpatient Services
Emergency Department
Child Life Activity Rooms

*Volunteers provide services that are strictly comforting in nature. Volunteers are not provided with the opportunity to shadow professionals, take vitals signs, provide patient care, or observe procedures. 

LITTLE OR NO PATIENT CONTACT
Opportunities with little or no patient contact include:

Information Desk/Escorts
Gift Shop
Office Assistant
Music Connection
