General Requirements for Hospital Volunteers



Applicants must:

  • be at least 14 years of age (see program listing for specific age requirements)

  • have a valid U.S. social security number (if over 18 years of age)

  • be able to commit to 100 hours of service

  • be in good physical and mental health

  • be able to communicate effectively in English (second language skills are a plus)

              *Unfortunately, we are not able to accept court-ordered community service.


TEENS
: We currently DO NOT have any volunteer positions available for anyone under 18.

College/University Students:
Prior to signing up for an Information/Orientation session, please contact us at: volunteerservices@llu.edu
if you are required to do an internship/volunteer hours for course credit.  We must determine your eligibility!

Steps to Becoming a Volunteer

     1.  Attend a 3-hour General Information/Orientation Session
     2.  Complete Application Packet (given to you at Information/Orientation session):
 
                      a.  Application
                       b. 
2 Recommendation Forms
                       c. 
Background Authorization Form (if over 18 years of age)
     3.  Attend a 2-hour Group Interview                                                                                                                                         
     4.  TB Clearance
     5.  I.D. Badge
     6.  Volunteer Uniform
     7.  Program Specific Training

 

Group Interview

This appointment will be scheduled when you attend Information/Orientation. You will be required to turn in your completed Application Packet upon arrival at the group interview.  Further information and steps required to complete the volunteer process will be given to you at this time.

TB Clearance

The TB clearance is necessary before you begin volunteering.  Details will be given to you at the Group Interview.  The hospital requires a 2-step TB test - which may mean up to 4 visits to the Employee Health Services Department, or, in skin test-positive persons, a written report of chest x-ray results taken within the last 12 months.

Volunteer Uniform

You will need to purchase a uniform through the Volunteer Services Department.  Prices range from $13-$20.  You will also need to provide your own tan cotton slacks. Jeans, shorts, capris, and open-toed shoes are NOT permitted.
