Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (Part One): Care of the Stable and Recovering Neonate
Have you always been interested in NICU nursing? Are you a new graduate? Are you looking to change nursing specialties? If yes, then this class is for you. This three-day class is the first step toward a career in neonatal nursing and has been designed as an introduction to the field of neonatal intensive care nursing. The objective of this class will be to familiarize the participant with the physiological, psychological, and developmental needs of the stable and recovering infant in the NICU and his or her family. The class content will include topics such as: administration, thermal regulation, breast-feeding in the NICU, neonatal skin care, pain assessment, and management in the NICU, and much more. An individualized preceptorship can also be arranged in our 72-bed Level III NICU as a supplement to this class and to develop hands-on experience (see Neonatal Intensive Care Internship for details).
