Welcome From the Chairman
Thank you for your interest in the Loma Linda University Department of Anesthesiology. We are located in the heart of beautiful Southern California, conveniently situated halfway between Los Angeles and Palm Springs in the Inland Empire. Our location places us within one hour of surfing at the beach, camping in the desert, skiing in the mountains, or catching a play in Los Angeles. There are six major airports within one hour's drive.
Loma Linda University Medical Center is a tertiary care and Level 1 trauma center for both pediatrics and adults. We are world renowned for pediatric cardiac surgery. In fact, the first infant heart transplant was done at Loma Linda University in 1985. We have an outstanding academic department that provides a strong subspecialty experience. Fellowship training is available in the fields of pediatric and cardiothoracic anesthesia, pain management, critical care medicine, and research in both clinical and basic science.
Our resident research department is very active. We have won a first place award five out of the last six years at WARC. Residents desiring research experience are given opportunities for extended research time in an NIH-funded neuroscience research laboratory. In addition, there are numerous opportunities to work with faculty on clinical research projects.
More information about our department can be found here. I can assure you that if you apply to our residency program you will meet friendly faculty who are dedicated to resident education and to providing a healthy atmosphere in which to learn.
