About the Loma Linda University Cancer Center

New Cancer Center
The Loma Linda University Cancer Center is comprised of 11 Centers of Excellence and serves as a resource for patients with cancer in the Inland Empire. The essence of the new Cancer Center is integrated cancer care by teams that specialize in specific areas and types of cancer treatment. These teams will eventually be housed in a single physical location, so patients only need to visit one facility to receive all of their cancer care.

First & Second Phases
The first phase of the new Loma Linda University Cancer Center was dedicated February 15, 2008. After the formal dedication ceremony of the new medical oncology unit and infusion suite, more than 600 people toured the new state-of-the-art facility. The second phase was the development of the Biospecimen Laboratory and the completion of a dedicated Oncology unit. This unit should be completed in Summer 2009 and will allow the Cancer Center to add stem cell transplantation and treatment of acute leukemia to its list of complex cancer care services.

Future Phases Planned
The third phase consists of a symptom management clinic which is already functioning, and a patient resource center which is expected to be completed during 2010. Phase four will include the build-out of the remainder of the Schuman Pavilion and Chan Shun Pavilion. Completion of the Schuman Pavilion is scheduled for 2011 and completion of the Chan Shun Pavilion is slated for 2010. When this fourth phase is complete, all cancer physicians and researchers at Loma Linda will be co-located in the same physical space.

Besides comprehensive cancer care, the Loma Linda University Cancer Center also provides complex
cancer services, including:

  • Proton radiation treatment
