New Cancer Center
The Loma Linda University Cancer Center will add badly needed resources for patients with cancer in the Inland Empire. The essence of the new Cancer Center is integrated cancer care by teams specialized in specific areas and types of cancer treatment. These teams will be housed in a single physical location, so patients only need to visit one facility to receive all their cancer care.
First Phase Complete
The first phase of the new Loma Linda University Cancer Center was dedicated February 15, 2008. After the formal dedication ceremony of the new medical oncology unit and infusion suite, more than 600 people toured the new state-of-the-art facility.
Future Phases Planned
The Cancer Center is being built in four phases. The second phase contains a biospecimen lab and dedicated inpatient oncology units and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2008. With the completion of this second phase, stem cell transplantation and treatment of acute leukemia will be added to the Cancer Center’s list of complex cancer care services.
The third phase consists of a patient resource center and symptom management clinic and is expected to be completed during 2009. Phase four will consist of the build-out of the remainder of the Schuman and Chan Shun pavilions and is expected to be completed in 2010. When this fourth phase is complete, all cancer physicians and researchers at Loma Linda will be co-located in the same physical space.
