Why a Pet-Grief group?

The bonds we share with our pets are sometimes more enduring than friendships we share with other people.  It is safe to share our deepest secrets with our pet because their love is always unconditional.  Without them we can feel lost.  For many people, the death of a pet is very difficult and painful event.

Mourning the loss of a beloved pet can be a difficult process and finding support through this vulnerable time can sometimes be just as challenging.  Pet-Grief therapy can be helpful in providing support through the healing process.

Loma Linda University Medical Center Chaplain Services facilitate quarterly pet-grief classes specializing in the loss of a pet.  The Pet-Grief Group provides insight and support for grieving people.  It also provides adults with ways to help their children who are grieving the loss of a pet.

The group time is made up of short videos and explanations of how grief affects us and off the opportunity to share, discuss and ask questions.

Time:  New groups begin the first Wednesday of January, April, July, and October
7:00pm – 9:00pm for seven consecutive weeks.
Fee:  One-time fee per person is required to help cover costs.

It’s hard to lose a pet that you have come to love.
Our pets are a part of the family and when they die, it hurts deeply.
You are not alone in your pain and grief.  Join the Pet-Grief Group and find support and healing during your time of grief.
