Loma Linda University Medical Center
Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) and Children's Hospital (LLUCH) is a 797-bed tertiary care facility and serves an area roughly equal to 25 percent of the State of California. The emergency department evaluates more than 58,000 patients a year. The acuity of the adult patients is high. Twenty four percent of patients are admitted and thirty percent of admitted patients are admitted to an ICU. As a tertiary care facility, LLUMC commonly treats patients with unusual or complicated medical conditions. There is an active medicine service, cancer center, intensive care unit, and coronary care unit.
Riverside County Regional Medical Center
Riverside County Regional Medical Center (RCRMC) evaluates more than 65,000 patients each year in its emergency department. The hospital is one of the largest centers in Riverside County. The hospital is newly constructed, state of the art, and opened its doors in 1998. Medicine residents treat the diversity of illnesses typical of an indigent population. As RCRMC is the designated county hospital, residents are exposed to a significant amount of unusual and interesting pathology.
Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Affairs Medical Center
The Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Affairs Medical Center is a 560-bed facility located in the city of Loma Linda, just a few blocks from Loma Linda University Medical Center. It is one of the top 50 employers in the Inland Empire with over 2,100 employees that serve over 57,000 veterans who entrust their healthcare needs to the VA. The Medical Center provides a wide variety of services through inpatient, outpatient and home care programs.
