Procedures

The renal fellow will be expected to become proficient in the following procedures: urinalysis (including review of urinary sediment), percutaneous kidney biopsy under ultrasound or CT guidance (both native and transplant kidneys), hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and placement of temporary vascular access for hemodialysis.  All procedures will be supervised by an attending nephrologist, transplant surgeon, or interventional radiologist and recorded in a procedure book.  When a fellow is deemed proficient in any procedure, as determined by the fellowship director, the fellow will then be allowed to perform the procedure unattended.
