Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple Sclerosis, or MS, is an autoimmune disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. People with MS experience loss of sensation, muscle weakness, pain, mood changes, vision problems and difficulty walking. With its many challenges, MS can disrupt an individual’s lifestyle and frequently causes psychological problems like depression.

The Department of Neurology understands how important it is to help MS patients manage their disease so that they can lead normal, active lives. There is no cure for MS, but there are effective ways to manage its symptoms and effects. That’s why the specialists at the Department of Neurology collaborate to create a treatment plan that addresses the needs of each individual patient.

Using this multidisciplinary team approach, our specialists create treatment plans designed to reduce the severity, duration and occurrence of MS attacks, relieve symptoms and slow the progression of the disease. To do so, our specialists collaborate with specialists in other departments such as rehabilitation, neurosurgery and psychiatry to ensure that patients get complete care.

The Department of Neurology offers diagnostic studies and evaluation procedures to accurately identify the treatment that bests suits your specific needs. Our procedures include:
