Occupational Medicine Residency Program

 pd

Welcome

Welcome to Occupational Medicine at Loma Linda University!  We thank you for your interest in our program and are excited about what we can share with you.

Our residency, established in 2000, is a 2-2 program, generally accepting two second year residents each year.  The strength of our residency is in its’ clinical exposures – one of the strongest in the country.  We are pleased to offer many opportunities in employee wellness and global health, resources that flow out of our home institution’s passion for these areas.  We’re also blessed to be part of the Loma Linda University Department of Preventive Medicine which offers one of the largest Graduate Medical Education components in the country, thereby giving our residents unique resources for education and collegiality.

The center point of our residency is the Loma Linda Occupational Medicine Center, where residents practice throughout their training period and receive their core clinical occupational medicine training.  Residents also participate in numerous educational opportunities in occupational medicine, toxicology and related specialty care at the adjacent Jerry Pettis Veterans Administration Hospital.  The other two core rotations include Patton State Hospital where residents participate in employee wellness and epidemiology opportunities, and the San Bernardino County Employee Health and Wellness center where further occupational and environmental health evaluation skills are acquired.  All residents receive a Masters in Public Health at the Loma Linda University School of Public Health, generally in the Occupational and Environmental Health Department.  We have a dedicated group of five core faculty and over forty supporting physicians in our Department.

Medical students interested in a career in Occupational Medicine can match straight in to a first year Preventive Medicine slot, and transition from there to the Occupational Medicine program.  Elective opportunities are also available.  Please spend some time browsing our web site and its links. If further questions arise, feel free to contact us directly at any time.
