Pathology residency program
Throughout their residency training, residents participate in teaching and conduct teaching conferences within the department of pathology, the School of Medicine, and the School of Allied Health Professions. Residents also serve as instructors in medical student pathology laboratory sessions. Experience in teaching is also gained via presentations at weekly intra- and interdepartmental conferences and in rounding or consulting with the clinical services.
Residents are encouraged to become involved in any of the many ongoing research projects in the department of pathology and laboratory medicine. Intramural funding for specific areas of interest can also be obtained upon formal application and approval by the chair of pathology. Time for research is usually arranged as an elective block; however, it may be workable to integrate research time with existing anatomic or clinical pathology rotations.
