Loma Linda University Medical Center Sites
|Loma Linda University Medical Center: LLUMC is an academic, tertiary-care medical center with 647 beds and 5,000 employees. Annually, there are over 21,000 admissions and 500,000 outpatient visits. PGY2's do rotations in psychiatry consul and liaison at the main medical center, where they get experience working with other specialties and learning the principles of medical psychiatry.PGY2’s also spend time doing emergency psychiatry work here during their nightfloat rotation. PGY1’s spend one month as an off-service resident on the Emergency Department service.|
|Loma Linda University Behavioral Health Institute : Behavioral Health Institute houses the psychiatry department office as well as the psychiatry outpatient clinic, staffed by Loma Linda psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers. Here residents will participate in medication management clinic, psychotherapy clinic, seminars, and weekly didactics.|
|Loma Linda University Community Medical Center: Located a few blocks east of LLUMC and adjacent to the Loma Linda Urgent Care Center, the Community Medical Center has 120 licensed beds, including it's own intensive care unit. Resident experience at this site is included in the consult and liaison rotations.|
|Loma Linda University Behavioral Medicine Center: As the premier provider of mental health in the region, the BMC contains adult locked and voluntary units, a geriatric unit, adolescent and child units, a chemical dependency program, and day treatment programs (partial programs). Annual admissions exceed 2,400. The adult and geriatric wards provides a large percentage of the resident inpatient experience.|
|Loma Linda University School of Medicine: LLUMC serves as the major clinical teaching site for the largest medical school in the state of California. In addition to the School of Medicine that accepts 160 students each class, Loma Linda University offers degrees in Nursing, Allied Health, Public Health, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Graduate studies, and Bioethics. Residents are able to take courses at the university tuition-free if desired.|
Community and Government Sites
|Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Affairs Medical Center: Completed in 1977 with a total of 251 beds, the Pettis VAMC is the major teaching affiliate of LLUMC. It is located just a few blocks from LLUMC and provides primary and tertiary care to veterans of the Inland Empire. 2NE, the inpatient psychiatry ward at the VA, provides a large percentage of the resident inpatient experience. In addition, residents participate in psychiatry intake clinics, consultation psychiatry services, emergency psychiatry, ECT services, geriatric psychiatry, and as 4th year residents, have their own outpatient continuity clinic. Interns doing off-service rotations work at the VA in inpatient medicine, ambulatory medicine, and inpatient neurology.|
|SAC Norton Clinic San Bernardino: A part of Social Action Community Health System (SACHS) which began 35 years ago as a part-time volunteer effort by Loma Linda University and Medical Center faculty and students. Today, staff provides primary and preventative care, mental health services, dental care, rehabilitative services, prenatal/women's services, and specialized care for HIV/AIDS. 4th year residents have a year-long outpatient continuity clinic at this location, and interns rotate off-service in the outpatient clinic staffed by Family Medicine and Preventative Medicine.
