About the hepatology program

Loma Linda University Medical Center's hepatology program has a collaborative approach to the management of patients with various liver diseases. We have a multidisciplinary team of physicians, pharmacists, transplant coordinators, social workers, advanced practice nurses, dietitians, and clinic and unit nursing staff who coordinate the care of the transplant patient prior to, during, and after transplant. We believe in active collaboration with referring physicians and provide written communication regarding every clinic visit to the referring physicians.

We encourage active family and patient participation in the care and management of various aspects of the patients' disease e.g. education, medication management, transportation, support, and encouragement. The physicians and nurses provide ongoing education and updates regarding the patients' conditions during clinic visits to ensure optimal patient education and participation. We have multilingual translation services available for patients where English is a second language.

In order to ensure dietary compliance, staff dietitians provide one-on-one dietary counseling and group classes regarding diet. We also provide a variety of written materials to assist our patients' compliance with their diet.
