Adult trauma services
Adult trauma services provide support for all patients who meet the criteria of traumatic injury. We have been designated since 1980 as a Level I trauma center. We recently were as a verified Level I trauma center with pediatric commitment by the American College of Surgeons. Our average number of trauma admissions is approximately 1,790 per year.
Level I trauma adult center resources:
- Trauma attending emergency department response
- Trauma resident (PG-4/PG-5) on site 24 hours a day
- Neuro-surgical resident on site 24 hours a day
- Neuro/trauma intermediate/acute care unit
- Organ procurement program
- Surgery/trauma intensive care unit with intensivist
- Burn transfer agreement with SBCMC-Burn Center
- Formal trauma research program
- Inpatient rehabilitation
- Teen outreach - Youth Alternative Solutions Program
- Cardiac/thoracic surgery
- Operating suites open 24 hours a day
- Adult trauma support service
- Hand and microvascular surgery for reimplantation
- Stroke Center
