Loma Linda University Medical Center - Total Care Birth Center

Total Care Birth Center

The Total Care Birth Center (TCBC), as a part of the Perinatal Institute at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital provides nursing care to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum women and newborns. TCBC provides competent and safe care to childbearing women and their newborns. This includes all pregnant women who need care for their pregnancy or care for a condition that may have an impact on their pregnancy, delivery, or postpartum period. It also includes care for their newborns, not requiring intensive care.

Staffing is provided by registered nurses in a total care nursing system to ensure the provision for quality of care. A charge nurse or shift coordinator is designated for each shift and unit. Our RN staff is assisted by unit secretaries and perinatal technicians.

Our goal at TCBC is to deliver optimal care to infants and their mothers in accordance with the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative. TCBC Hours of Operation are 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
