Loma Linda University Medical Center to Host Inland Empire's Largest Women's Health Conference Empowering Women to Improve Their Health

Day-long Conference to Feature Health Information, Inspiration and Nationally Renowned Speakers Dr. Pamela Peeke and Dr. Suzanne Metzger

Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC), the Inland Empire's leading hospital and one of the nation's most respected research and treatment facilities, will host the region's largest and most comprehensive women's health conference on Friday, November 14, 2008 at the Riverside Convention Center. The day-long event will be open to all area residents and will offer entertainment, inspiration, education, free health screenings and free gift bags valued at more than $150 from sponsors like L'Oreal Paris, Dove Chocolates, Garnier, Huggies Diapers, Slim-Fast, Kellogg's Snacks and Maybelline New York.

"LLUMC and the National Speaking of Women's Health Foundation share a common vision to empower women to take care of their health and to enhance the health and well being of women," said Beverly Rigsby, LLUMC's director of Women's GYN Service. "In the Inland Empire, which is the sixth-fastest growing county in the country, the number of women ages 45 and older are expected to increase by 43% between now and 2012. In order to meet the healthcare demands of an aging population that traditionally experiences higher incidences of illness, we must work together to shed a light on health improvement."

Studies show that women make up to 90 percent of the health care decisions for themselves and their families. Speaking of Women's Health conferences help women make informed decisions about health, well being and personal safety. In addition, this event enhances the lives of women in the community and raises awareness about LLUMC's women's healthcare and community outreach programs.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to reach out to local women on health issues of importance to our community," said community sponsor Jeanne Murdoch, Vice President, Chancellor Health Care. "The Speaking of Women's Health conference offers a day of camaraderie and teaches women to feel comfortable talking with their families, their doctors or their spouses about health issues of concern to them."

Other key community sponsors of the program will include Aurora Imaging Technology, Inc and the Loma Linda International Heart Institute. Other national sponsors include Lifetime, Tylenol, One-A-Day Women's, Wal-Mart, Cadbury Schweppes, Vaseline Intensive Care, and Meredith, among others.

Tickets for Speaking of Women's Health will go on sale July 17, 2008. A $35.00 ticket includes free health screenings, exciting exhibits, keynote speakers, continental breakfast, informative breakouts and a luncheon program.
