Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency at LLUMC

Welcome!

Our goal is to prepare you for a primary care practice, but also provide a foundation for subspecialty fellowship training. Our program was started in the early 1980s and currently accepts four positions each year. About 75 percent of our graduates practice in primary care roles and the remaining have pursued subspecialty training (majority in combined fellowships).

Strengths of our program:

  • We are integrated with two equally strong internal medicine and pediatrics residencies.

  • We have a history of quality residents with about 23 percent chosen as chief residents (in either internal medicine or pediatrics) and 28 percent accepted into fellowships of their choice.

  • Currently, we have eight attending med-peds physicians. One has completed a fellowship in adult pulmonary/critical care medicine.

  • We have a complete patient experience involving tertiary, county, and veterans administration hospitals.

  • We have our own freestanding continuity clinic, monthly meetings, and an opportunity to perform combined subspecialty rotations.

  • We are affiliated with Loma Linda University School of Medicine and our residents have the opportunity to interact with and teach medical students.

  • Residents have the opportunity to practice "whole person care" with their patients.

  • There is strong administrative support from the respective hospitals, departments, and program directors.

I hope the information you find on this site is useful. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
