Complimentary services
Books: The Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics will purchase the following books for each resident at the level indicated:
PG-1 Williams' Obstetrics with study guide, Droegemueller's Comprehensive Gynecology with study guide
PG-3 Telinde's Operative Gynecology
ACOG junior fellowship:
The department strongly urges each resident to submit an application to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists for Junior Fellowship. The department will pay the annual dues during the four year residency.
ACOG annual meeting:
The senior residents will be allotted meeting funds and time off to attend the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists' Annual Meeting held in the spring each year.
Medical practice seminar:
This seminar will be held on an every other year basis, presented by an outside guest speaker (CPA) with information on how to get started in medical practice, contract negotiations, etc. It is geared to the PG-3 and PG-4 residents.
Senior resident banquet:
Each spring the department sponsors a farewell banquet for our seniors. This is usually held at a local restaurant with attending, residents, and spouses in attendance with parting gifts and awards being presented by the department and a skit/slide show put on by the seniors.
Departmental river trip:
Every fall, members of the faculty sponsor a weekend trip to the California/Arizona border on the Colorado River. This get-together is a welcome annual event for the residents where the attendings rent a house boat, bring motor boats, jet skis, and provide the food for this trip.
